Monthly Yin Yoga @ Yogasara Studio, Bristol
Join me for a monthly dose of deep rest. These sessions are inspired by my journey of learning to balance the yang with the yin and finding a love for this practice at at time when my body called for more stillness. Regular yin is an integral part of my practice and I enjoy multiple elements of this practice from working with meridians, fascial lines and using subtle counter asana to help release tightness from handstand and acro training.

Yin yoga
Yin yoga works with the fascial system of the body, a structure that connects, contains, interweaves and wraps around organs, muscles, muscles fibres, nerve fibres and bone. Fascia can get tight and start to bind together from decreased movement, for whatever reason, and likes a gentle approach to release. Rather than a stretch it’s more of a re-spreading out, gently teasing the fascia apart and working with different angles as it enjoys spiralling movement. As with most things in life, if we push too hard for results then the body may push back resulting in more tension and further away from where you started. Becoming present to breath and using breath as an extra channel to reach deeper layers in the body can be incredible powerful in helping to release fascia. The fascia becomes connective tissue which supports our joints and connects to bone so I recommend practicing yin as a solo practice or after a strong practice, as opposed to before.
